Independent Whiskey

I just want to ask a question. Nothing difficult or confusing, it’s just that the answer I get seems to cause more questions.

Why are so many craft distilleries trying to make whiskies?

Think about it, all the different types of whisky around the world combined make up less than 1/3 of the global spirit market. From bourbon to single malt, the global market for the most diverse spirit category is just over 30% of a sector that can claim 18% of alcohol sales world-wide.

So why are more than 80% of micro and craft spirits a style of whisky?

I’ve got a few theories but I’d like to know what you think. Comment below or share this on Facebook and get a bit of a discussion going. Do you or your friends even like whisky? Let alone exorbitantly priced craft whisky?
